Costuming My Bliss

Pirate Princess

Ahoy mateys!  This be the makin' of a pirate princess.  So hoist anchor and away!

Alright, now I've gotten out of my system.....

Halloween 2008, the L.P. wants to be a pirate, with a sword!  Me being me, I waited until the Sunday before Halloween to get started.  That left me with four days to get 'er done!

I used Simplicity 4469Cute pattern, but a real PITA!  The bodice itself has 11 pieces.  All those need lining and interfacing, so that makes 33.  Add the sleeves and its up to a whopping 37!  Yipes!  Why do I always do this to myself?  (Here's where I vow to get started early next year.)

I didn't get as  many construction shots as I'd like, but I really had no time!  At some point I'll add pics of the inside of the bodice.  (I'd like to do it now, but the L.P. spilled  skeleton brains down the front.)

The pants were very straight forward.  Just little knee breeches trimmed with lace.  I didn't even hem the bottom, just added the lace.  They took all of half an hour to make.

Overall, I'm really happy with how it turned out, and the LP loved it.  Would I use the pattern again?  Not a chance.  Too much trouble for one day of wear.
